Always exciting to watch, the Latin dances are extremely rhythmic and are recognizable by their emphasis on hip movements. The five Latin dances are Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble.
"...a vertical expression of a horizontal wish"
The most sensual of all the Latin dances, the Rumba is the slower counterpart to the Cha Cha and is also the easiest for beginners to learn.
"The Cuban spirit, with all its warmth and passion"
The flirty and light-hearted Cha Cha is one of the most popular Latin dances and is known for its eponymous 'cha-cha-cha' movement in its figures
"A flavour of the Brazilian Carnival"
An extremely rhythmic dance that has a characteristic bounce, the Samba brings a beautiful Brazilian flair with its syncopated beat.
"Combining rock 'n' roll rhythms with lighting-quick twists and kicks"
With influences from American dances such as swing and the Jitterbug, the Jive is the fastest of all the Latin dances.
"The dance of the Bullfighter"
With its recognizable shaping and steps, the Paso Doble is full of dramatic flair and highlights in the often used song: España Cañi.
